Henry County Superior Court Overview
Georgia's court structure has six trial-level court classes: Superior, State, Juvenile, Probate, Magistrate, and Municipal courts. Henry County Superior Court is the broad trial court for felony criminal cases, divorce, many civil matters, and appeals from lower courts. State Court handles many misdemeanors and traffic cases. Magistrate Court handles warrants, first appearances, preliminary hearings, dispossessory cases, garnishments, and smaller civil claims. Probate Court handles estates and vital-record functions.
Georgia does not have a county District Court for local trial cases, so District Court should not be confused with Henry County Superior Court. Federal district court is a different system. Henry County federal cases are assigned to the Atlanta Division of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, with federal appeals to the Eleventh Circuit.
Note: In Henry County, local felony, divorce, and broad civil trial records belong to Superior Court, not a county District Court.
Henry County Trial Courts
Georgia's actual court structure uses named trial courts rather than numbered county district courts. Henry County Superior Court has four judges listed in the research. This structure explains why one Henry County case lookup cannot cover every matter.

The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia is federal and separate from Henry County Superior Court.
Federal PACER access may apply to federal civil, criminal, bankruptcy, or appellate records, but it does not replace Henry County Superior Court case access.
Henry County Superior Court Judges

The court belongs to the Flint Judicial Circuit for Superior Court and District Attorney purposes. Felony criminal cases in this court are prosecuted by the District Attorney, while civil, domestic, and family matters use the applicable Superior Court filing and docket process.
The Clerk of Superior Court is the record keeper for Superior Court filings. State Court, Magistrate Court, Probate Court, and Municipal Court staff maintain their own calendars, payments, and records. That means a case assigned to Judge or Superior Court calendar links may be searchable through the Superior Court path, while a city citation in Stockbridge or McDonough may not be.
Superior Court vs Lower Courts
Henry County Superior Court is broader than the lower county and city courts. State Court can hear misdemeanors, traffic, warrants, preliminary hearings, and civil matters not reserved for Superior Court. Magistrate Court is often the first court touched in a criminal case because it handles warrants, first appearances, and preliminary hearings. Municipal courts focus on city citations and ordinances.

Henry County Case Flow
Criminal cases may begin with arrest, warrant service, jail booking, or a Magistrate Court appearance before the case reaches State Court or Superior Court. Felonies are handled in Superior Court once formally charged by indictment or accusation. Misdemeanors and many traffic offenses are handled in State Court or a municipal court, depending on the issuing agency and citation. Jail records can show current charges and bond, but they are not the final court outcome.

Henry County Superior Court Records
Superior Court records include felony criminal case files, divorce petitions, final decrees, civil complaints, orders, judgments, temporary protective orders, name changes, legitimation matters, foreign subpoenas, and appeals from lower courts. The Clerk of Superior Court also links criminal courtroom forms, civil and domestic eFiling, public access terminals, cost schedules, record restrictions, and e-certification. These record paths support both ordinary inspection and certified copy needs.
Some records need care. Adoption records are usually confidential. Juvenile records are restricted unless a statute or transfer makes them available. Criminal record restriction can limit public access to eligible criminal-history information. Domestic records may include protected addresses, minor names, financial account data, and sealed exhibits. The public search may confirm a case exists, but the clerk may still need to redact or withhold a document before release.
Henry County Municipal Courts
Municipal courts matter because many Henry County traffic records and ordinance violations stay with the city court that issued the citation. McDonough Municipal Court handles misdemeanors, traffic violations, and city ordinance violations and uses Government Window for payments. Stockbridge Municipal Court handles certain citation payments through JusticeONE when no mandatory appearance is required. Locust Grove Court Services states citations must be paid by 4 PM the day before court.

City-court citation records should be checked with the city named on the ticket before assuming the record is in Superior Court.

Municipal ticket portals are useful for payment and status checks, but they do not become the full Superior Court case record unless the matter is transferred or appealed.
Federal Court for Henry County
Federal court records for Henry County are not held by Henry County Superior Court or the Clerk of Superior Court. Federal civil and criminal cases are in the Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division, and bankruptcy matters use the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Federal appeals go to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. PACER is the official federal docket access system, while CourtListener may provide free docket or opinion research for some matters.
Use the federal path only when the case is truly federal. A state felony, divorce, local traffic case, dispossessory action, probate estate, or city ordinance citation is not a federal record merely because Henry County is inside a federal judicial district.
